Provision Statement for PE

At Halifax we believe that Physical Education should inspire and challenge children and young people to experience the joy of movement, to develop positive attitudes both individually and as part of a group, and to enhance their quality of life through active living. This will give children and young people an important foundation for participation in experiences in physical activities and sport and in preparation for a healthy and fulfilling lifestyle.

PE and School Sport Premium 2013-2015

In March 2013 the Government announced that all Primary Schools would be receiving a Sport Premium allocation for 2013 to 2015. This funding is to be used for schools to provide, develop and deliver sustainable high quality teaching in school physical education and sport. At Halifax we aim to create a culture that encourages ALL children to be active and enjoy sport, and help foster the aspirations of future Olympians and Paralympians. Further information on how we intend to use this premium and the impact so far is shown in the document below, PE & Sport Premium.

Our Swimming Pool

We are lucky enough to have an indoor swimming pool which is in use all year round. All classes swim every term, and children in Reception swim every week. In the Autumn term for year 6 and the Summer term for year 5 the children are able to
experience deep water swimming and life saving skills at Ipswich School, Henley Road. We employ two qualified swimming instructors - Mrs Carol Jellings and Miss Kayleigh Read.

Our school pool was refurbished over the summer of 2011 and is a high quality facility.

There are separate changing areas for girls and boys, showers, and a toilet. The pool is also used by other schools and clubs including Ipswich Swimming Club, Aquateach and C&C Swimming School. After school swimming lessons are instructed by Miss Read who also runs parent and baby / toddler sessions on a Friday morning at either 10.30-11.15am or 11.15-12noon at £2.00 per adult.

In recent years all of our Year 6 pupils have met the Government standard of being able to swim 25m by the end of primary school

Pearl Izumi Tour Series Grand Final - Britain's leading televised cycle race Series

We were lucky to be selected as one of eight schools to participate in the Pearl Izumi Tour Grand Final in Ipswich on Friday 14th June 2013.   Maisie Golding, Kyle Moses, Courtney Davey and Kale Burnet represented our school and competed in organised races through the Ipswich Town Centre.   The children were provided with bikes and safety equipment and received expert coaching.  Kyle represented the school as a mascot and received a Team Jersey and Tour Series goody bag.
